Paver Sealing in Fort Myers, FL

Fort Myers is the other half of the Southwest Florida paver market, and it behaves differently from Cape Coral. Less canal frontage, more gated communities with rules about finish, and a lot of driveways the builder laid and nobody has touched since.

What is different about Fort Myers driveways

Cape Coral is a grid of canal lots built largely one house at a time. Fort Myers is older at the centre and newer at the edges, and the difference shows up in the driveways. The River District and the McGregor corridor carry genuinely old hardscape, some of it laid before anyone was sealing anything. Out along Daniels Parkway and toward Gateway the stock is fifteen years old at most and came with pavers from the builder. Those two situations need almost opposite conversations.

Builder-laid pavers, and the year-three phone call

A meaningful share of newer Fort Myers homes came with pavers already down. They are usually laid correctly. What they are not is maintained: sealed either never or exactly once at handover, with standard jointing sand rather than polymeric. Around year three the joints start emptying, weeds arrive, and the owner concludes the pavers are failing. They are not failing. They need re-sanding, which costs a fraction of what people brace for when they first call. The mistake worth avoiding is going straight to a sealer over empty joints, which locks in the problem and looks fine for about a season.

HOA finish rules are a real constraint

Gated communities here sometimes specify what a driveway may look like, and sealer finish is the usual sticking point. Wet-look darkens pavers substantially and some HOAs will not have it. If yours has a rule, say so on the first call. Finish is a product decision made before the crew loads the van, not something to negotiate in your driveway on the day. If you are not sure whether your community has a rule, it is worth ten minutes finding out. Stripping a sealer you were not allowed to apply is one of the few genuinely expensive mistakes in this trade.

Salt matters less here, sun and organics matter more

Fort Myers is less uniformly salt-exposed than Cape Coral. Along the river and toward Iona and the beaches it is comparable, but a driveway in Gateway or Fort Myers Shores is inland enough that joint sand holds longer. What replaces salt as the main enemy is shade. North-facing and tree-shaded driveways in the older neighbourhoods grow algae and mildew aggressively in the humidity, and that black film is organic rather than dirt, so it needs a cleaner rather than more pressure.

The season is the same across Lee County

October through April, for the same reason it is in Cape Coral: sealer needs a dry paver and a dry cure, and the summer afternoon storms give you neither reliably. Being ten miles further inland does not buy you a longer window. What it does buy, if you call in the off season, is a better position in the dry-season calendar.

Fort Myers questions

Do you cover all of Fort Myers?

Yes, across central Lee County. That includes the River District and the McGregor corridor, Whiskey Creek, Iona, the Daniels Parkway corridor, Gateway and Fort Myers Shores. Call and give the ZIP if you are unsure.

My HOA says matte only. Is that a problem?

No, and it is useful to know before anyone quotes. Matte and satin are widely used and hold up well in full Florida sun. Tell us the rule when you call and it goes on the job before the crew is assigned.

The builder sealed it when we moved in. Do I need it done again?

Almost certainly. A handover seal is usually one thin coat and it is three or more years old by the time most people ask. The more important question is the joint sand underneath it, which on builder-laid driveways is usually standard silica and usually depleted by then.

Is Fort Myers cheaper than Cape Coral?

Not systematically. Pricing follows the size and condition of the driveway rather than which side of the river it is on. Larger gated-community driveways cost more simply because there is more of them.

Do you do pool decks inside screen cages here?

Yes, and the cage stays in place. It is slower to work in and slower to dry, so it is quoted differently from an open driveway of the same area. Slip resistance matters more than finish around a pool.

Can you work on a driveway shared with a neighbour?

Usually, but both owners should agree first. Shared driveways and paired villa aprons are common in the gated communities, and sealing half of a continuous surface leaves a visible line that is hard to undo.
